bird nest in the engine bay?

Is it related to engine RPM or vehicle speed? You allude to both
both, when I pull into my garage and park it the noise is there when i rev it up a little but not on idle, and it is noticeable when I start moving the vehicle starts up slow chirping then gradually picks up when the car gains speed. I'll try to post a video tomorrow on you tube

+1 on Steve's advice. In my case, it was a failing water pump. The chirp lasted a day before the WP pulley fell off.
I think I found the culprit, power steering pulley/ pump making noise, I posted a video on you tube here's the title of the video "Boxster 986 bad power steering pump" from pedot pedotski I check the steering fluid and its dry on the stick, will add some Pentosin tomorrow and see what happens, maybe the fluid got really low and messed up my steering pump. is it hard to change the power steering pump or this is just the pulley that needs replacement?
If the fluid level has dropped significantly, the problem will be in the pump - the pulley is only an extension to the pump shaft.
Your next problem after topping up the PS resevoir is find in the fluid leak - it could be external (you will see the leak) or it could be in the steering rack (you won't see the leak). If the pump has run dry, it will probably require replacement..... |
