911's on 5th gear last night

Watched an episode of fifth gear that had a section of retromod cars. They interviewed two 911 guys, one was Singer who remanufactures 911's and the other was some famous guy who is a 911 nut that has a few stripped out and hopped up 911's for the street.

Made me wonder if it would be cool to get an old Boxster and strip it out, make it loud, lower it and have the P car equivalent of a hot rod. Imagine if you dropped 6 or 700 pounds off the weight, added a few more hp, and took away all the parasitic loads (AC, power steering). A latter day 550?

Seems like it would be fun.

One path ends up with a Spec Boxster. They can be street legal (like mine) and are incredibly fun to drive.

The famous nut is LA's Magnus Walker. You can watch the movie about him here:

I had seen that movie and forgotten about it. Guy has some pretty cool machines (and good taste, IMO). I'm going to look into spec box
