Is my boxster weird???

Hey Folks ...

so took my car (2001 boxster base tip) in to do IMS retro and RMS today ....
while I was there, decided to change my cabin filter. I proceed to take off the panel in the Frunk (just like the million videos and written instructions) ...... as I reached to pull out the old one ... i was like ... "where is it???"

my box doesnt have a cabin filter! theres not even a place for it
!! (ie no slot / tray / or gap... no compartment etc like in all the videos)

I thought that ALL boxsters had it .. throughout the years ..... Im really confused on this one! was it an optional item???

Garage
They all have it, perhaps a previous owner removed the tray for some reason. It doesn't affect the performance of the car, it's a luxury addition to keep the air you breath nice and clean.

How long have you owned the car? It wouldn't be hard to remove the tray but I can't imagine why anyone would do it unless accessing AC stuff.

On mine, I have the filter but that's it. There was nothing on top of it. Just the filter and the bottom of the box it was wedged in.

If you figure out what the part numbers are, let me know.
