New Or Used

Just curious as to how many people bought Used Boxsters as opposed to New Boxsters...

docdyh 01-22-2006 05:10 AM

Used 2002 with 24K miles and remaining factory warranty.

New. First experience with a Porsche and wanted the warranty security blanket.

Would have bought new, but didn't have the cash and I wasn't gonna borrow money on a depreciating item like a car. It's all about the factory bumper to bumper warranty for me.

Used 2002 boxster with 40K miles, $25,000.00. sticker $50,000 lost 1/2 of its value in 4 years even with 10,000 miles a year.

wild1poet2 01-22-2006 12:04 PM

I intended to buy used but found a leftover '04 discounted $11K to make room for the '06 models.

WoBoxster 01-22-2006 12:56 PM

I bought my 1998 in 2004 and it had 3,400 miles on it :D

I had an extra 25K sitting the the bank and decided to write a check for my 99 three years ago. I don't like the thought of payments or liens.

I am honestly shocked with the results thus far! 77% used! I would have guessed the opposite.

deliriousga 01-22-2006 06:05 PM

We don't buy new cars.

MikenOH 01-23-2006 10:45 AM

I've bought 2 new;

I tried to buy a left over '05' S but the numbers on the '06' were too good to turn down besides the '05' had stuff on it Ididn't care for.

I think getting a left over from the previous year is good deal if you can find one with the color and options you like.

One question for the guys that bought used, anybody get a Porsche certified warranty? if so, what was the extent of coverage?

TriGem2k 01-23-2006 11:18 AM

Wow, I knew a lot of people had used boxsters but WOW... Anyway Mine was a New 2001 that was bought in September of 2001....37miles on it :)

New or Used?

Bought 1997 in November '05, 9,700 miles on it from local dealer. Performed 100 point inspection but no warranty. All warranty work complete and trouble free so far.

Bought myself my 99 for my 18th birthday present on October 20th 2005. The wife of the previous owner insisted that she put a ballon on it since it was my birthday.

Blinkwatt: 18 and owning a Boxster

Just out of curiousity, how'd you decide on a Boxster vs. a rice burner of some sort? I ask since I see kids around here gravitating to either Hondas on Nitrous, Neon SRT or WRXs.

faterikcartman 01-23-2006 02:25 PM

New, left over '05 987. $10,000 off MSRP.
Rice burner left wife cold, Porsche made her hot, that made the decision easy.

I drove ALOT of cars and was able to be passenger in many cars on my quest to finding the "perfect match". I considered Z3s(3.0),TTs,80s 911s,A4s,Ferrari 308s,3 Series BMW and finally the Boxster. If you have not noticed I decided right away that whatever I bought was going to be European. I wanted to buy something that I would not regret a year or two later and would have handling, speed and braking from the get go. All of the cars on my list were nice and I put alot of thought into each and every one,but there was something about the Boxster that screamed "We were meant for each other". It was a perfect match,Im 18, no kids(no need for a sedan) and should be worried about having fun at my age. The car has it all, more then enough speed for me,handling that I will never use to its fullest potential and braking that I will hopefully never have to use to avoid a accident. 3 months later,I still love the car and it still manages to put a **************** faced grin on my face everytime I start it up.
P.S. bmussatti, regarding class at a young age. Thank You, every once in awhile Iam told that because of my car and the music I listen to(Phil Collins,Sade and I mix in Kenny G).

faterikcartman 01-23-2006 11:51 PM

I've never been a Collins fan but to each his own. I should point out, however, that if you like girls you should lose the Kenny G. Sade is, of course, a great choice whatever your persuasion. :p
