Top Problem
Well, after dropping almost 4K for a worn chain pad repair, the engine is ok again. I replaced a faulty ignition switch, and the car was completely different to drive. A lot smoother. This was a complete surprise for me, as I thought that the ignition switch couldn't affect the engine in any way besides turning it on (and off). I had a slight fight with the alarm too, due to a faulty door lock switch on the dash. The only thing I haven't sort it out yet was the intermittent problem in my top. It stopped while closing, and I had to take it to the dealer to sync it. A couple of days later it wouldn't open anymore - and gave a couple of big clunks when I tried to open it, and then it closed misaligned. Took it to the dealer again, and it worked absolutely perfectly there for a couple of times. When I came back, I closed it and it wouldn't close right, so I opened it again and I started hearing those bangs again. When I closed it, it didn't close properly and the back lid got a little bent and didn't close right.
I got out of the car and I saw the trim covers on the floor. I checked underneath the top lid and the folding top push rods were detached, the left side on both ends and the right side on the bottom end. The rubber bush was down on the cloth. The dealer said that nothing was broken, but they think the transmissions may be faulty (just working intermittently), and that I should think about replacing them as well as the cables and some nuts before reassembling it.
This happened before I solved all the electric faults,
Do you think it could've beeen solved by the ignition switch replacement (and the faulty lock switch) and I should go to the dealer to reassemble it? Or should I replace all stuff they've suggested?
