Rear spoiler warning light

I've spent a couple of days searching for an answer and can't find it. I recently purchased a 2008 987 boxster with a gt style wing on it. The original spoiler was removed.
When I drive past 70mph I get a warning light saying rear spoiler malfunction. How do I disconnect this sensor since I don't have the spoiler that moves up past 70mph. It's very annoying.:(

See the Pelican / 101 Projects write up:

Pelican Technical Article: Boxster Rear Spoiler Installation - 986 / 987

"For pre-2001 cars, you can eliminate the spoiler warning lamp by removing the bulb in the gauge cluster (see Pelican Technical Article: 996 Gauge Cluster Upgrade). For 2001-04 cars which no longer use light bulbs in the cluster, you can trick the car into thinking the spoiler is still attached. Pull the two brown relays and disconnect the connection to the spoiler (red arrow), located under the trunk carpet. Then remove pin 1 (blue/green wire) from the connector, and wrap it in electrical tape. Then swap pin 2 (gray/brown wire) and pin 4 (gray/green wire) and replug it in. This should stop the warning lamp from illuminating in the instrument cluster."

Thanks 2003S. So does this work for a 2008? It says for 2001-2004.

Sorry, should have read closer. Not sure if the 987 uses the same spoiler mechanism as the 986... I'd do a little exploring under the trunk carpet to see if it looks the same...

Just change the red spoiler light overlay to green with the text "Afterburners Engaged" :D

hmmm, still no luck. I tried looking under the carpet and it looks nothing like the pics from the post on the other site. I even tried removing the fuse A3 which is supposed to control the spoiler along with the rear trunk but it still gives the warning when passing 75mph. Don't know what to do.

if I remember correctly, earlier models can have this feature disabled by a PST2 or PWIS. Which means, most likely you need to stop by a dealer and have them do it. If so, I'd suggest a routine maintenance visit and when you are there ask them about it. Might do it for free.

For your info the previous owner of my 2001 Box had the spoiler disabled by the Porsche dealer. Presumably it was not working properly. Once I hit about 75-80 mph I get a spoiler warning red light. I figure that is fast enough anyway and I back off.
Perhaps the Porsche dealer wants me to know that the spoiler light is coming on even without the spoiler deployment as a caution.....it gives them an out if I should get into an accident due to a light rear end.
