Hiding a toll collecting RFID box
 

Anybody done this?
I hate putting anything on my window and because I leave my car topless at times, it's an easy target for thieves. I'm looking to hide it somewhere, but would like to hear if anybody else has tried this yet and where might be a good place to hide it. I have the Illinois I-Pass if that makes any difference.

My tollpass for E470 (CO) worked in the glove box!

Found out that didn't work for me just a few days ago. The top of the center console is metal, so I know RFID won't work through that. I googled an article about some guy with a Civic and he took the box apart and stashed the tag in the dash, but before I started fiddling, I just wanted to see if anybody else tried it first.

Hmmmm, my GPS worked under the front cowl, so maybe the toll tag would work there as well...

Behind the front bumper or in the headlight area where metal won't block it? Not sure how big it is, but there is room behind the plastic triangle corner thingy on the headlights.

I would think that hiding it in the storage area behind the seats, on top of the engine, might work.

There are several pictures showing the space above the HVAC vents. An RFID unit will fit there. I don't have any trouble with a garage door opener signal, working from there. I'm assuming an RFID would work too.

We use SmartTags here in Virginia, and every few years you need to turn them in to have the battery replaced. So, you would have to disassemble your dash every few years if your system is similar.
