The gorgeous 1955 Porsche 550/1500 RS Spyder turned heads and broke records. Bringing in just under $4 million, this RS Spyder, which has been beautifully restored, set a sales record for its kind. The legendary air-cooled race car was advertised as one of the most genuine 550s in existence. In its day, 550s were used and abused as a track-day car, and occasionally they still make it to the track. These gems are hard to come by, which explains why this jewel auctioned for such a pretty penny.

It's going to be a long while before any rear-engine Porsche beats that. I guess Ferrari prices are about to go to Mars.
