PCA DE event inspection?

I am a new member of the PCA Carolina's area. I am registering for a DE event and one of the questions that I have to answer on the form is "do you understand that you car has to be inspected by a shop listed on this website no sooner than 4 weeks prior to event."

In the PCA guide to DE events I downloaded, it says all I need to do is make sure my car is running good and have a helmet.

I'm confused and I see no list of shops on the registration site and the guide does not mention any inspection.

Anyone out there been at a DE event and can give me the scoop?

Thanks!

I am a volunteer Tech Inspector for our PCA section here. Some driver's do thier own tech inspection (Self Tech), while others take their car to a shop (smart move) for a more experienced/thorough inspection. Those shops will stamp and sign-off on the Tech Inspection Sheets.

At the DE Event, the Tech Team re-inspects the car, and we sign-off again, so your can be assigned run-groups, and the required windshield stickers.

Regardless, make sure you have had a brake fluid flush prior to the event, thick brake pads, good rotors, and good properly inflate tires. Wheels torqued to at least 96 ft.pounds.

Your helmet (not a motorcycle helmet) needs to be at least 2010 Snell certified.

We also require, long pants, long sleve shirts. No synthetic fibers. Check with your region's rules.

Have fun. Be safe. Be humble.

Your car will have to pass the PCA inspection. It seems that the PCA is still playing a bit of catch up in the transition from holding tech inspection of cars at the track on the morning of the event to requiring that cars be tech inpected at a shop prior to the event.

At this point, I'd suggest contacting the event organizer to get a list of shops in your area that can perform this service.

Yes. With well over 100k PCA membership, 139 regional clubs in 13 zones, different groups often do things a bit differently. There are national DE standards but each club is free to implement safety and tech inspections as they see fit to meet minimum standards.

For the best answer to your question, go directly to the event organizer and get their requirements directly. My region may be different than yours or Flavor's. If this is your first time you can ask for a mentor contact in your area to help walk you through the process. After your first event it will make a lot more sense.

What group is sponsoring the DE. Most the regions or clubs that run events have forms listed either with the application or in the DE section on their web page. Most groups also use Clubregistration.net or MotorsportReg.com and list the support forms in the registration information.
