MAF Need help find correct parts!

I need to replace my MAF sensor but websites are different now with new updated numbers I guess. I have called partsbin.com and they couldnt help me out to verify since their call center is not near their part centers.

I have the following:

2000 Boxster S

Bosch: 0 280 218 009 Porsche: 996.606.124.00

I read many other post and it says I need PN: B3130-128499 but no one has this number. I put in Porsche part numbers and Bosch numbers in advanced search on these websites and would send me to PN:B3130-14965. As reference on other posts PN:B3130-14965 is refering to the second up of the e-gas MAF. Should I just go to the dealer and buy it for 402.68 before tax?

It depends on if you have E gas or not. I can't remember on the 2000 if it is or not. The 01 is e gas. If you pop your top engine cover and take a look at the throttle body, you can tell. If there is a throttle cable, then it is no egas.

No throttle cable. Just the metal handle if there were a throttle cable.

Ok, then it is an E-gas.

This is the part number worldpac gives me: 0 280 218 55 bosch. 986.606.125.01 porsche #, and PM sent.

I believe the 986.606.125.01 MAF needs an ecu update for me since I will be coming from the 996.606.124.00. I will call the dealer to confirm this and how much will the ECU update will cost since I will be installing myself.

that's right i have my old MAF here in front of me (though for the price it might become a collectioner's item ;) )
the number is 996 606 123 00 and it came from a 97 2.5 tip
so if someone has a problem with his MAF and that model is discontinued can they upgrade to a newer version as a straight swap or do they have to do different upgrades ie ECU etc..?
this is a general question which i hope will help some of our forum goers
