Bought Boxster S - failed after 3Hrs

Hello guys! I share the same passion for Porsche us you.
Unfortunately I bought a Porsche Boxster S year 260HP - 2003 - 160K KM - for 13K Euros some days ago.
While driving home, I started to hear unusual sounds coming from engine compartment, in 5 minutes getting louder and louder, display turned red alerting Engine overheat, gauge hit max temp.
I immediately shut it off and let truck pick it up.
After first inspection my mechanic says water pump failed and needs to be changed and some other sound coming from engine need to be check-ed up removing the engine from the car.
Now, as I don't have to put any money on that and I'd like to be sure all is perfectly fixed, what do you suggest him to check? Do I have to worry about motor reached max temp for 1/2 minutes? and that other strange sound?
I also can reject the car and get back my money if this has big problems.
Awaiting to hear your suggestions,

S.V.
