speed alarm

Hey guys.. my boxsterS has a speed alarm that starts beeping at 120 km/h. I took the car to the service center to have it deactivated but they weren't able to do anything about it. They told me that they've done it on models prior to 2003 but the 2003my is programmed differently.

Has anyone on this forum deactivated a speeding alarm on a 2003 boxster?? i'd appreciate any advice from you guys cause the beeping sound really gets on my nervs!!!

Its interesting that you mention the speed alarm. Once or twice I have heard the same thing on my 2000, but I think it came on at around 125 mph for me. Is there a speed alarm? The dealership tried to tell me I was hearing things, acting like I must be crazy. If there is such a thing anyone know a way to deactivate on a 2k?

If you have the on board computer option there is a speed gong that you can set to warn you when you reach a certain speed. The owners manual tells you how to turn it off. Do not know anything about another type of speed alarm. Jeff

I have the on board computer, but i'm not talking about that speed gong. The one that comes on in my car is pre set from the factory. It's not their in all cars. Depends on the specs. Mine is Gulf specs. I don't know if its there on american specs cars.

If it makes a sound, then it needs a speaker or similar to create it... if you can find that you can always cut the wire ;) . Make sure it doesn't also provide another warning you care about like the seat belts or key left in ignition, etc. first!
