defroster connect on a 1st gen 2001 boxster

just recently had a new soft top installed on the boxster -- went with the Sierra /GAAH top with the glass window.

my question is whether there are instructions somewhere about how to connect the wiring for the glass defroster somewhere given that the 1st gen boxster does not have a defrost button and did not come with a glass window option.

or is it not possible to do this?

Yes, it is possible as the early Boxsters had hard tops, which had rear defrosters. Trick is, you need the connector cable that goes between the car body and the top, which you do not have.
