Fixed It!
Hi Folks. Lately I noticed that the engine temps were getting pretty high. Especially in stop and go traffic. Not to the point of the red light going on, but close. AFTER SEARCHING THE FORUM:), and reading up on all the causes, I determined that the aux fan ballast was kaput.
The left fan wouldn't come on with the a/c on, either high or low. I took off the bumper cover to clean the radiator debris. Lots of leaves and debris. I turned on the a/c to check it up close. No fan and that radiator was HOT. Went on fleabay and ordered the ballast resistor. When it arrived I installed the part. Pretty easy DIY. Fan works great and the needle is right where it is supposed to be. I'd like to give a shout out to all who post and to all that that maintain the site. The information is priceless. |
Very cool! Thanks for sharing, this makes this site so much better.
After cleaning my radiators the car def runs cooler, no question! |
Nice job. The search feature is great and is always my first stop when I have an issue.

Do you mind posting the ebay link?

Hi Sixpact. This was a one time deal. Somebody bought one that they didn't need. Just go on ebay and look up "Porcshe Boxster fan relay" and you will find several. The dealer quoted me 140 plus a 5 day wait. Got mine in 2 days.

Thx for the info
