Since I'm a novice to this subject of the Porsche Variocam, wonder if Jake might give me an estimate of approximately the rpm the Variocam might be actuated on the 2004 Boxster S under conditions of relatively light load. Are the "later cars" the 2003-4 models of the 986? Searching the topic (this forum and rennlist) brings a bewildering variety of opinions ranging from 1500 to 4200 rpm.
My prior experience with variable valve timing came from several years of ownership of another from the VW family tree, a 2003 Passat W8 (eight cylinders, four liters, four cams, some entertainment value but loads of trouble). I'm still trying to forget.
