If I remember correctly, they can be retrofitted, but it requires a few parts. From the complaints I've seen regarding them, I'm not sure you'd want to do so. FWIW, I reasearched cupholders left & right and finally bought the dual cupholder tray that fits in the center console. Later I bought a Bird armrest. Sam Bird (
BIRD Armrest Cupholder Home Page) still has a fe left and I suggest you call him about them. FWIW, Somewtimes I stil use the dual cupholder as it provides a place for my wife to put her drink when we travel. The two best benefits are the armrest and permant hinge (metal) that will not break or need repalcement.
