2 broken springs

my neighbour had 2 weird problems recently.
(on his 2005 911 Carrera 4S)

about 3 months back, rear passenger side suspension coil broke.

this happened whilst parked. back was lower, he thought strange. found a small chunk of coiled metal.

He got both rear springs replaced under warranty from Porsche,

Then 2 weeks ago, same thing happened, this time passenger side, front spring!!
Again, parked. Someone said they hear a loud bang, then his alarm went off.

so again, Porsche replaced front two this time.

Is this a common problem for Porsche? or just an oddity

That's strange, especially considering he was parked. This is the first time I've ever heard of the problem on a Porsche, let alone any car as springs breaking are rare. I have heard that springs can break when severely rusted or with aftermarket suspension components. I just got done replacing my stock with the eibach pros and am very happy.
