Focal Dash Speakers...installation question

For those of you who installed Focal speakers in the dash, did you guys cut the Focal mounting tabs to reuse the stock mounting rings like in the DIY?

I have a set of KP100 and I'd really hate to cut the cast mounting tabs. They're pretty heavy duty metal, not plastic like on most speakers.

Did you guys find another way to mount them?

I suppose I could cut notches out where the mounting tabs go so I can retain them, yah?

Yup they definitely need to be cut out and reused. I have a full Focal system in my are. 3ways upfront/doors and 5" subs in the factory Bose box. Entire car rewired. Alpine PDX 5 amp and Audio Control EQ under passenger seat.

yeah, i don't really have a problem cutting out and reusing the stock speaker mount BUT I want to avoid cutting the mounting tabs off the Focal speakers.

Do you think notching the stock speaker ring will work?

Focal speakers are too nice to go in a boxster... so I bought these speakers instead. No wiring required.

Nice, never thought of undermounting them. THANKS for the tip, I'll do it that way. I assume all 4 points hit the ring?

Nice, but that costs WAY more than my Focal speakers, haha. An exhaust is definitely in the cards soon though. I am thinking about taking off the stock muffler and just having a shop fab some pipes to run right off the 2ndary cats to the rear. That'd solve the oven trunk issue at least.

Seems like the only cheap aftermarket solution is the ebay one, but it doesn't mount easily I've read.

Why are you against cutting the tabs off? I sliced mine off and bonded the speakers to the ring with black silicone, really easy. Not as if you can see anything when it's back in the dash.

The focal speakers are really expensive so if I sell the car eventually, I'd like to be able to reuse the speakers. Also, the basket isn't plastic like most speakers, it's aluminum and pretty thick.

I was just wondering. I destroyed the old speakers to use the rings to hold the Focals so I always knew they would be staying with the car when I sell it. The tabs didn't hold out much opposition against the angle grinder.
