Radiator grilles

I have a 2001 S, with the "titanium" finish radiator grilles in the front. Can anyone tell me whether a plain black grille from a base Boxster will snap right in? I would think they would, but wanted to check before ordering a pair. They have different part numbers and prices, but that can be explained by the titanium finish of the S variety.

Thanks!

Regardless if they fit or not, replacement requires bumper removal to install from behind. Not hard at all but if you're going to that trouble, try a cheaper solution first like Mothers Back To Black (or 303 or other equivalent) or simple removal and re-spraying with a matte black spray paint.

Good luck :)

PS - don't think s models we're titanium... yours are just neglected like many others. In '03 (?) they changed to body colored fin grilles.

Tried Plastidip already

Oh, I know about having to remove the bumper...I did it this weekend, and sprayed my silver ("titanium") colored grilles with black Plastidip. But the Plastidip was too fragile when I went to snap them back in, and rubbed off in places. So I am thinking the factory plain black ones will be a more permanent solution. I'm considering the Plastidip to be a trial, and I am really liking the black grille look. I also Plastidipped the center radiator bezel retaining bracket, which was also kinda silvery and (I found) distracting.

You should try some Acetone on those titanium grilles as it may remove the paint and I believe the underlaying plastic is black, so perhaps no painting required.

I acetoned my "S" letter on the trunk because it had scratches and needed a repaint. The old paint came off very easily revealing the black plastic underneath.
