I need help..please
 

I have reecntly bought my 00 boxster and I just love it. Recently I am noticing a small pitch whining noise ( may be fan belt ) coming out from my car as I am idling and it would go away when i raise the rpm. What could this be? Thanks.

Location of the noise? Front ? Rear? Left? Right? Car in Gear and moving? Out of Gear? Stereo On/ Off? Clutch In/Out? AC On/Off? All these things can make a difference as to what the issue may be. Help us help you...

sorry for the lack of information :p The noise is coming out from the rear, close to the rear driver side. The noise will appear when clutch is in or out, and the ac is on when this happens. BTW, this does not happen when engine is cold, only when engine has been ran to normal temp.

If it sounds like a squealing belt, it may be the oil separator going bad. Mine made that noise when the separator went bad because there was too much vacuum on the oil filler tube. The filler tube was sucked flat causing it to squeal horribly.

If you open the engine compartment, you can watch the oil filler tube when you start the engine. As it warms up, the tube flattens out when the oil separator has a leak in it. You'll also start to see more smoke at start up. If it's the separator, you need to replace it asap as it can cause the engine to hydrolock if too much moisture gets in.

There is no excess smoke coming out at start up, could that still be symptoms of oil separator? As I read through the previious treads, what are the chances of idle rollers going south?
