coolant leak when i got home
coolant coming out of rear passenger side of car just as i pull in driveway, thank god,but im thinking its hoses at coolant manifold, tank?i understand those are very hard to get to.i would assume that leaking on right side would rule out water pump?
|
i checked trunk ,its dry.i looked at hose underneath right rear,do not see any torn or loose hose.today is very hot,100 degrees, could i have dumped coolant in tank from bad resoirvoir cap?
|
That would be the first thing I would look at. There have been problems with the earlier version coolant caps. The latest version is 996-106-447-04.

ill wait till i cools down.ive done some searches, and someone had mentioned that before dump they had taken cap off and may not have properly screwed back on as it has fine threads. i too had opened cap a few days ago, maybe its not screwed in correctly.whenfilling tank will i have to do a few cycles with vent valve open.if so how long do i leave it open?
|
Three or four heat / cool cycles should be enough depending on how much coolant you lost.....
Just keep an eye on the level and top up accordingly with the correct coolant. |
Same thing happened to my boxster and it ended up being a cracked coolant reservoir tank that needed replacing so $1000 bucks later its fixed. Damn it expensive to get fixed. They charge a bloody arm, leg and next nut for anything Porsche.

i bought new cap, mine was an old style, filled with porsche coolant, bleeder valve open, drove pretty hard,no leaks temp was good.will let cool and check coolant level.so im keeping my fingers crossed it was only cap.
