Trailer Hitch
Building my own,
Start with one 4"x 4" x 6" 3/8 angle iron
Drill ball hitch hole
Raise spoiler
Remove spoiler and bumper

If you are going to track your car you need a small trailer to put all the racing stuff on. Here is a site for those that don't want to go to all the trouble of making their own hitch.

I'm sure the cooling system and suspension will love being used to tow a trailer. At the very least, it will be a great opportunity for one of those great canyon runs - making use of the cars incredible handling, balance and responsiveness! And just think, you could add on some truck mirrors so that you can see behind you - I'm sure you could bolt them directly on the doors. Of course, the dummy switches on the dash would work perfectly for electric brakes. You may want to rasie the suspension, although you can probably increase ground clearance by going to skinny rims with high profile tires. No doubt about it, much more fun as a tow vehicle than a Cayenne! My mind is spinning with the various mods I could make to my Boxster and, afterall, I do need to make a dump run.......

Last week I had an air cooled 911 take a dump on a test drive and would not start. Had to call a tow truck, thinking this would be a nice business expense. :dance:

Anyone have a Willwood rack they would like to sell? I'm close to buying one second hand but I'm looking to pick up a second unit to keep out state.
Apparently Willwood has suspended operations and I prefer the Willwood set up to the Bird system I previously owned until some jerk smashed it while the car was parked.

Willwood Kit still Available?
I have a 2003 Porsche Boxster and I need to be able to use it to pull a lightweight trailer with a Kayak on it. I would REALLY LIKE to get a Willwood system mount, but can't get in touch with the gentleman that runs it. Anyone have any info, or connections?

U-Haul Custom Hitch, Eventual Catalog Manufacturing for 986
When I searched for a tow hitch on the U-Haul website, they said that they do not have a hitch available for a 986, but would want to fabricate a custom one for free. I'm assuming they would design and start to manufacture one for the 986 to offer it on the market. The only catch is that you would have to leave the car at their site for 2-3 days in Tempe, AZ while the design and build one. Anyone in the Tempe area that is willing to do this? The following is the message I received from U-Haul...

No way on God's green earth I would allow the guys at uhaul to touch my car. Any of my cars. Some of these guys are hard workers, but they're not fabricators. None of them.
I would explore the various threads on the forum and find another idea.
If you find a fabricator you trust, I'd talk them through the steps on building one like mine.
