Another newbie from Oz
Hi guys, recent lurker and relatively new poster (well was until a few minutes ago). This is an awesome forum with a wealth of knowledge and given me a few laughs especially with Johnny Danger's recent posts about his IMS ordeal and the Porsche poems. Must say you guys are a humorous bunch. Looking forward to becoming part of the 986forum familia and the many years of driving pleasure with my newly acquiried 2001 build 2002 model year Boxster S in sprint yellow. I'm hopeful the Boxster is a pleasant stepping stone towards the rest of the Porsche family of fine automobiles.
P.S. Been absolutely crapping myself up until the IMSB was done the other day and had the cracked coolant reserviour tank replaced not too long before the IMSB replacement. Now, its hopefully nothing but pure driving enjoyment. |
Pictures... A requirement for all Newbies on this forum is to post pictures of their Boxster.

Don't know if getting the secondary cat bypass pipes alone will do the job perfectly. Just afraid to send anymore money on it to be disappointed yet again. |
To get a "reasonable" increase in volume and performance, I spent a considerable amount of time and effort and found:
1) Decent equal length headers are a must - Top Speed parts in Dallas, US, work very well and are a bargain price. 2) Cat bypass pipes - again from Top Speed but illegal in Australia and you need to install a boss for the O2 sensor. 3) Retain the rear muffler - heavy but no drone - quiet untill 3,500 rpm then quite loud. I've had the above system fitted for 2 years now and my wife still doesn't know its fitted as its still very quiet at crusing speeds..... |
