Dangermobile - IMSB Retro-fit Complete !

1 Attachment(s)
I picked up the D-mobile this afternoon with a clean bill of health ! The IMSB retro-fit went as smooth as one could hope for. However, much to my surprise, the bearing did show some signs of play, to include a very perceptible degree of graininess and overall roughness when spun. According to the tech, the bearing was at stage 1, bordering two stage 2, in terms of wear. In any event, I'm glad that I had the procedure done , for both mechanical reasons as well as a piece of mind. I cant' say enough positive things about Musante Motorsports. Over the years I've dealt with several highly regarded independent Porsche facilities in the Massachusetts area, but Musante stands head and shoulders above them all. Chris Musante and his staff are truly a world class operation !
Incidentally, while the D-mobile was there, they performed an alignment, along with a thorough corner balancing unlike anything I've ever experienced. My vehicle was transformed ! Also, my thanks to Jake Raby and LN Engineering. As much as we debate and grapple over the issue of IMS failure, without their expertise and dedication to the Porsche community, there would be no solution to this problem. Alright enough with the happy talk - me and Chaz are going dancing tonight !

Good call on doing the bearing as it sounds like she was beginning to go down. Enjoy the new suspension setup out on the roads tonight.

Glad to know the DM came through with flying colors and is once more in active service. Now go drive that thing as though your life depends upon it.

They diagnose these bearings like cancer, eh? Stage 1- you caught it in time. Yay!

2000 S with 21k original miles. Also, Chaz and I are not in a relationship, but most of the time he/she doesn't wear any pants.

Hint, "gypsies, tramps and thieves".

Truly happy to hear it went well JD. Could you guys imagine the titanic backlash if the DM actually suffered an IMS failure?

This is what you'd see.

Well played sir! Shaggeriffic.

Johnny Danger 06-30-2013 08:41 AM

Gee, there was a gain of 15 hp "over" the wheels after installing the LNE bearing. Is this possible ?

thom4782 06-30-2013 09:06 AM

Placebo effect no doubt...

Chaz is the daughter of Sonny and Cher. You may remember her as Chastity when she was just a cute little blonde tike on the show. She has grown up and decided she wants to be a man. She is going through the process and even has a beard now.

Well done, Danger.

JD, I had a similar experience today.
Had a new AOS, maf and plenum clean-up. I have to say
It feels well rapid!
No stutter, no uneven idle...just pure power.
