Shift linkage bushing?
I'm sorry to do this to you guys because I'm sure there is a thread floating around somewhere already but I promise you I have searched extensively.
Where the heck do I purchase replacement shift bushings? I can't find a part number or exact item description ANYWHERE. Every single thread I've found online (and there have been lots) just says to use this as an opportunity to put in a short shifter. I'd love to maybe someday but right now I just want to spend a few bucks on a piece of plastic and get my car working again  Is there a universal bushing people use? Are there brass bushing available for a bit more? 2002 Porsche Boxster Little white plastic bushing that allows the shift lever to pivot left/right but locks it in place from moving up/down Help this newbie! |
I believe you could use the bushings from a short shift kit and leave your shifter in place. You can get the whole kit for around $50. It would not save you any time to put your existing shifter back in rather than the whole short shift kit.

My previous post is still under review from the mods so I can't edit it but I found a short shift kit on ebay for $49!
From what I saw online, people are pleased with these knockoff shifters. Hopefully I picked the right one? Should be here by next Tuesday so the car will have to sit still until then. Can't wait to try out the upgrade! |
That's the one.
