Porsche 917 at speed

I saw my first Porsche at a young age & knew I had to have one.
Then I saw the classic movie LeMans & the sound of a boxer engine with 2 turbos going down the Mulsanne straight flat out sealed the deal.
Check this clip out
A 40-year-old race car that still thrills

Life is good!!

flat 12? So, two flat sixes together - does that means it has not one, but two IMS bearings???

Just watched it. Great clip! The 917 was just damn near frightening!

Great video - thanks for that. The fun factor in these P cars is amazing. Every time I see a P car it assures me that my next car will be a P car whether my GF likes it or not. At least they are easier to get in and out of than an Elise.:)

917, arguably the greatest race car of all time. For me only the 956, GT-40 and 250 GT0 are close. The early 917 long tails were vicious, aka "the widowmaker". The 917k was much better, winning Porsche's first LeMans. Then came the turbos. 917/30 producing well over 1000bhp. Largely responsible for the death of the CanAm series it was so dominant.
