Wheel spacers...
 

Well, I finally pulled the trigger and bought a set of Cayman S wheels (they are being shipped to my house as we speak). They are 8" fronts with offset of 57 and 9" rears with offset of 43. My stock 17" wheels are 7" fronts with 55 offset and 8.5" rears with 50 offset.

I know that the fronts will need spacers and I'm thinking somewhere in the range of 7mm-12mm. I will definitely need new lug bolts :(.

The rears could be left alone with an offset of 43 but I'm thinking of adding 3mm-5mm spacers just to give it that slightly more aggressive look. Will it truly be necessary to purchase longer lug bolts for this small of a spacer?

BTW, if anyone has spacers they want to sell, message me :D

No thoughts on wheel spacers and the need for new lug bolts:confused:??? I was thinking (hoping :D) with a small spacer like 3-5mm you may be able to use the stock bolts. Anyone have experience with this?

I'm new to Boxsters, and familiarizing myself with the car, but if the bolts are so short, that 3-5mm will not give enough threads, then that would be a first for me to encounter. Going over that amount, you will probably need extended bolts to be safe, but I doubt that's stopped people from going larger, which I don't recommend unless there are enough threads. Depending on the pitch of the threads, you should get at least more than 5 full turns, but I've seen Honda guys run 4. Without our 6 cylinder torque, I would play it safe. Experts: chime in?

Can't vouch for the quality, however. Wouldn't take the chance of using the stock 45mm wheel bolts. I'd opt for some 52mm ones.

Anything beyond a 3mm spacer, you'll longer lug bolts.

Shameless thread hi-jack but here it is anyway.
I've decided on 12mm spacers for mine.

Here is my dilemma...

I can opt for 37mm bolt (so that's 9mm longer than the oem 28)
Or
I can opt for 45mm bolts (so that's 17 mm longer)

Given I'm adding 12mm which is best. 3mm under or 5mm over?
One set gives me slightly too long the other slightly too short.

Don't want the issues that too long would bring but I don't want the wheels dropping off while driving hard?
