CDR 220 problem-really!
My CDR220 works fine and plays CDs weather the key is on or off but once the car is started there is no power to the unit. Is there some programing that needs to be done or wiring to repair/bypass?
Thanks |
just a crazy thought:
I once read that there is a so called "X-circuit". What it does is that it cuts power to the stereo while you are starting the car. Probably to prevent it from damage. So maybe in your case the x-circuit stays disabled while the car is running but opens again when the engine has stopped? As I said, just a wild idea |
try jiggling and slightly rotating side to side the ignition key next time it happens.
A bad ignition switch causes all sorts of funky electrical gremlins... Good luck :) |
My guess would be that someone crossed some wires somewhere for it to behave like that or the only other reason would be that your CDR-220 unit is starting to go bad. Did you recently add anything new to your car that might have caused this like added a new antenna or ipod connector? I dont think its polarity as that would have caused the radio fuse to pop.
I don't think its programming. If nothing was changed and this problem only started now, you can try disconnecting the car battery, wait an hr, connect battery back on and enter the radio code to see if its any better as these electronics sometimes need a reboot too ! best |
I noticed that a second or so after starting the engine I hear a click under the dash as the radio goes off. Any idea what relay that would be. I'll try to feel which one it is tomorrow.

Anybody else familiar with the so called "X" circuit or electrical tests I could do to get this thing working.

Bump. Anybody have a wiring diagram where I could fix this thing?
