Turbo Style Side Air Intakes Yea or Nay ?

I was thinking of adding a set of these turbo style side air intakes to the Dangermobile. Yea or Nay ?

p.s. I decided to forgo the Porsche side stripe.

I think the turbo vents or any of these will look better than oem vents but be prepared to pay, very pricey.

best,
Mike

I like the look of the vents on the Yellow Boxster.

It makes it look like a more recent model with better styling.

1 Yea here!

Sorry Soucorp, but those intakes are absolutely gross !

Agreed...as are the "turbo style". :p
IMO, they just look odd. Why the vane in the middle and why is it angled slightly upward? Does not flow at all.

That's a nay for me.

It seems like you're really bored with your car, eh Johnny? Maybe you need a whole new project to start on?

I tried lawn darts and making wicker baskets. However, I soon became bored. Could this be a form of "reaching out", albeit with the D-mobile ?

+1 for the yellow boxster side vents

I hear the key to enjoyable basketweaving is to do it underwater. ;)

What about Spyder intakes?

JD,
Yes to your original question.
I kept mine stock following its restoration... But if I had my time again-turbo style Lionel Richie style "all night long"!

I agree..the whole car looks odd:confused:

Johnny Danger 06-11-2013 05:47 AM

Not only would those look odd, you'd have to take a saw to the side of your 986 in order to make them fit.

Dgnarvs 06-11-2013 05:52 AM

Yea to the turbo style side air intakes. I think it has a cleaner look.

jb92563 06-11-2013 05:52 AM

The Basket Weave is just 1 page of the KamaSutra, why limit yourself!

Underwater definitely makes everything past page 5 easier for us geezers that are not as flexible as those that are already past page 50.

Jello also helps.:p

Did someone say "turbo" and "side intakes"? Could always go old school and 959 it:

For whatever it may be worth JD, I like the turbo style air intake/exhaust grills.

I'd vote yes to the turbo style inlets since I just added them to my car this Spring. I think they match well with the openings on the AerokitII front bumper. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1370976352.jpg

particlewave 06-11-2013 10:54 AM

Yeah...they just don't flow with the lines of the car
It seriously doesn't bother anyone else that they point upward? I'm too OCD...it would bug the hell out of me.

Enough said.

FWIW, I think you should still do the first stripe AND do the inlets. If you don't like the finished product, go back to what you had!
