where does your reverse gear beep come from?

where does your reverse gear beep come from?
my rear parking sensors don't work - no sound at all.

I just get the beep that you get when you put the car into reverse.

My mechanic has checked with Porsche and he is almost certain my sensors are after-market jobs.

When I hear the beep, it's coming from the rear of the car.

Is that where you hear the beep with factory fitted parking sensors?

if you read the porsche manual;

those with factory fitted reverse parking sensors will beep once intially when you stick
gear into reverse.

then you should get the normal distance tones.

Mine just gives the initial beep, which emanates from the rear of the car

however my mechanic and VIN details state it's aftermarket sensors.

just want to know if factory fitted sensors give the initial beep and tones from the front, form a piezo under the dash or wherever

Tom,
Mine has it as a factory option,
That is the pattern : engage tone, followed by intermittent beeps which increase in speed as the objects become closer until a continuous beep is sounded - which signifies you are close or have even hit the object - ha ha.

Its deffo internal but i have never really paid much attention to where it comes from - its almost like its under the seat?

I'll have another listen this weekend and let you know

So check your reverse lights

Good luck
