Has anyone seen...

Has anyone seen (or have) a Boxster with the front end modified to have the headlights of a later model 996. Porsche changed the headlights (I think in 2002), most likely to make the 911 and Boxster a bit more distinguishable one from another. I'd have to say the late 996 headlights are my favorite porsche headlights ever, and wonder what they would look like on a Boxster.

I agree with you on the lights and how good they look. Your parts dept at the local Porsche dealer can tell you if these lights can work with any fender that will fit your car.

Nice Idea.

My boss, Mike Yager has a black 986 with the newer 996 style litronic headlights. It also has a 996 engine in it. I was looking for a better pic but this is the best I could find. Scroll down to the bottom of the page.

My guess is that he installed the headlights and the front bumper from the 996. I THINK the fenders will be fine as is.

Can you ask him?

I'm pretty sure you are right Richard. New bumper, new lights, same fenders. I will ask and get back with you guys when I find out.

Heres a link for a pair of the lights your wanting. I've seen the bumpers selling pretty often on ebay also. Let me know how it turns out. I'd consider this myself as I would love the litronics and an upgraded front end. Seems like it would save me a bit of money to convert to 996 front end rather than buy a bumper and boxster litronic conversion. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2003-Porsche-Carrera-911-996-986-XENON-Headlights-SET_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ36476QQitemZ8026464 206QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
