Dave it would be very interesting to see the bearing condition. Maybe your shop could cut it in half for inspection?

With a '98 you have very little to worry about. Double row bearings have less than a 1% failure rate according to Porsche. I'm not a gambling man but I'll take those odds any day ! Relax, enjoy the car and change your IMSB when a new clutch is needed .
