You will definitely be thankful you did the upgrade, even if there apears to be nothing wrong with the original bearing. It is all about peace of mind...

Picked up the Boxster post IMS bearing upgrade, new RMS and new clutch. And it turns out the IMS Bearing on my garage queen, 25k mile, 10 year old, 3.2 liter 2003 Boxster was......................in perfect condition - no signs of wear whatsoever and the seal on the bearing looked like new.
I'm sure my clutch was still practically like new and I had no RMS leaks. At least I got the 10 year old serpentine belt replaced and I'm still glad I bit the bullet and did the upgrade.
Was I just paranoid or what...
...and I was in a bit if a hurry when I picked it up so I did not drive the 3.6 liter Boxster. That was probably a good thing, but maybe next year when I get my oil changed....

I picked up mine from Poudre Sports tonight. Great guys. What I was guessing (hoping) was a rms leak was a ims flange leak, but the bearing turned out to be both fine and a dual row. I am a mid year 2001 S and per my vin should have been a single row. Go figure. I can't believe how much better the car drives with the new clutch. Turns out the old one was toast. Anyway the car is all ready for my wife on Saturday for ladies day hdpe.

Parrot356, how many miles were on the clutch out of curiosity?

I guess the flange leaks a lot. Mine was leaking too and my bearing was in pretty good shape. There was a teeny tiny bit of play.

Telski-61,800 miles. No records from previous owner but I assume it was the original. Glad I caught/changed it when I did. The flywheel was able to be reused.
