Water pump replaced!!

After a week without a car, I finally got around to replacing the water pump myself. Contrary to popular belief, yes, this car is expensive to take to the dealer to replace things, but it is also a very capable and easy car to work on yourself. The parts are a bit more expensive than a honda, but nothing to extravagant.

The 986 has almost every single fix written up somewhere.

Feels so nice to be back into a totally quiet car after the bearing on my water pump went out.

The hardest part of the water pump replacement was putting on and off those annoying clamps used to hold the hose in place. I did the entire job with 1 jack and 2 jack stands...

Next on this list is to replace all the engine mounts...

Good job, but you should have bitten the bullet and done the front mount at the same time.

You were already underneath the car and removing the mount makes the pump replacement even easier. Might have added .5hrs to the whole job, likely less.
