Key turning but not locking

I tried to lock my Boxster today and the key just turned left and right very easily. It would not lock on the Drivers side. It worked fine on the passenger side.
Is this something that I can easily fix. Or do I have to spend a fortune at the dealer?
if anyone has some pictures how to fixi it please attach a link
thanks

Hi,

You'll have to get inside the door to see what's going on. It's most likely that the Rod which runs from the Lock Cylinder to the actual latch has come loose. Taking off the door panel is pretty straightforward, but you need to disconect the Battery due to the side AirBag (so you'll need you Radio Code).

Only you can gauge whether it's a D.I.Y. job for you. It certainly is for me... BTW, when did Porsche start putting Lock Cylinders in the Passenger Side Door? My '99 doesn't have it.

Happy Motoring!... Jim'99

Mine is a 1999. Any tips how to get the door side panel off. I don't think there are side airbags in the 1999 version. But maybe there are . I see these leather panels that are oval about 8" in length. It worked fine the other day. What would make the key change all of a sudden.
thanks

I can see in the diagram how to take off the panel. But I can't quiet see the mechanism that locks and unlocks the door. If something is loose where is the part that turns when you put the key in the door. Do I have to unscrew more stuff to get to it or is it in the picture and I just can't see it
thanks
