Car pulling left to right on acceleration on idle

Hi All,

I was stopped on a red light yesterday and notice that with; Clutch pedal press down, transmission engaged in first gear. If I rev the car a little I feel a little bit of a shift from the car from left to right (torsion) just from winding RPM. What could that be (I was thinking maybe transmission or motor mounts) or is this normal?

I also noticed that with the Clutch pedal press down (all the way down) I can feel a vibration (maybe more a light picking) of the flywheel, no abrasion or friction but I still can feel something is this normal? Should I be worried about something or maybe this could be related?

I have never driven a car 14 years old so that might be only normal wear from time.

My Boxster is a 99 base with 75,000 km (40k+ miles)

Thanks for the feedback!

Frenchie

I'd check the slave cylinder first. Only because everything else it could be would require pulling the transmission.

I'm not sure how you could check it though other than just bleeding it.

Motor mounts. Have someone drive behind you, and have them make note of what the engine's exhaust tips are doing. Are the moving? Dipping up and down??

+1 for motor mount. Replace it. It will feel like you have a new car!

Another question that might be related to motor mounts.
Is it the motor mount that sometime make you feel like the transmission/power train rocking. It’s far from being dramatic on my car but I kind of feel this sometime, when I shift or let go the gas at high RPM. Thanks all for your answers. I will google and search about motor mounts later but does everybody replace them with original part or there’s some good other brand out there?

Ahhh... left to right motion. That's what I get for skimming.

Barteur, Pedro (pedrosboard) has a front engine mount that is supposed to be more durable than the factory part, although I haven't used one. The originals aren't terribly expensive, however, and seeing as yours has lasted 14 years before the rubber gave out, I wouldn't worry about the durability (or lack thereof) of the Porsche part.
