Willwood bike rack question.

Last fall I purchased a Willwood bike rack system and I finally got around to installing it yesterday. After installing the receivers on the bumper brackets I found it extremely difficult to insert the bike rack into the receivers. I noticed that the receivers were not square with each other and were canted outward. I shimmed the receivers to square them up but am still having difficulty inserting the rack. Has anyone made any modifications to the rack to make it easier to fit in the receivers? I am thinking that by elongating a couple holes I can make the width of the rack more adjustable to the width of the receivers and thus make it easier to insert. Any thoughts?

Mine were not a perfect alignment either, although I wouldn't say its extremely difficult either.
I used the template but still managed to get the hole punch not perfectly centered before I went in with the drill. The result is that I have to jiggle the rack into the receivers to get them to seat so that the holes for the security pins line up. But that's kind of a good thing because they'll have that friction to keep them in place and take some of the load off the pins.

Have you tried applying some white grease (lithium lube). I've seen it in the 3M spray cans.
