??? This plug is behind the drivers side seatbelt

I have a question for anybody who knows what this is and if I can use it as a power supply for some LED lights or something. It looks like a plug of some sort. Thanks fellow Boxster peeps! http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1368588784.jpg

You use that when you fit a hardtop, it's for the rear window demister.

ChrisZang 05-15-2013 06:56 AM

Hmmmmm,

that's right, that's for the rear defogger.
And I am pretty sure you have the defroster button on the dashboard (right side on the horseshoe - as it also operates the defroster on the mirrors)
That would mean that you now have a power source with an easy to operate switch on your dashboard. The only problem is that it will be a ******************** to route a cable from there to the front....

It was quite easy to route a cable. I fitted rear speakers to mine, just take the plastic cover off the door sills and remove the trim over the seat belt.

If you just need power, it's easier to take it from the fuse box though.

But if its connected to the defogger switch in the front console, Cant i just connect my interior leds to that plug and use that defogger button to activate/turn them on?

Batman_Has_A_Boxster 05-15-2013 01:58 PM

And how can i get power from the fuse box?

EssexPorsche 05-16-2013 07:21 AM

Batman, you could - but everytime you wan't to turn on your LEDs () you will also be running your de-fogger. Not sure that's the best option!

Why don't you just source a direct connection from the fusebox as Nimbus mentioned.

Search or post an appropriate thread, therea number of guys on here that are very good in that area i.e. Nimbus, Partialwave to name but two. All very clever and resourceful guys.

Go back to your earlier thread :

ChrisZang and Aknowles already provided a decent option using the phone accessory cables and a blank rocker.
