Just wondering if anyone has tried to change their oil this way. If so how did you have any troubles?

Nope. I prefer loosening the drain plug and driving down the street while letting the oil run out. That way I don't have to dispose of it, plus when I get back I know all the dirty oil is out because the engine has siezed!
