parking brake issue
I have a 98 Boxster and my parking brake isn't holding my car in place when I have it pulled all the way. Any ideas on how to fix it? Any and all are greatly appreciated

There is another method I have used but I will always defer to the experts and pelican DIY resources
Rear end in air, front chocked, car in neutral. Remove wheels. Pull parking lever up 2 clicks. You should be able to access the star wheel through an open hole in the rotor. Tighten star disk until the rotor will no longer spin. Release p-brake and ensure rotor spins. Done |
Thanks camibox, I will try that asap! Do I take off both rear tires or just the left one?

Both. I have also heard you can adjust by tightening the cable under the ashtry. There are two nuts. Makes sense but I am new to the Porsche game and am learning the tricks as I go

Ok thanks. How can I get under the ashtray?

you need to open the compartment at the center console, and remove the rubber mat. then you will see a screw that holds a plastic cover. remove the screw and the cover, and you will get to the adjusting nuts. this is how it looks with the console removed (but you don't have to remove the whole console to get to it). http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1367962743.jpg |
