The Benchmark. The new 911 Turbo. http://i1114.photobucket.com/albums/...ps965eee15.jpg |
That would be last thing I would do with 150K smackers.
A big automatic Porsche with a barka lounger and jet engine. How is this still a Carrera at these proportions? Panamera Turbo coupe! I wonder if the Z-51 Stingray Corvette will be faster. The Cheyvee is rumored to be as quick as the the 997 Turbo, 991 S and 997 GT3...and that's before anyone's gotten around to put the really fast rubber on the Stingray or any of the faster variants that may come out. |
Here is what 520 hp looks like:

In 1997 my highly optioned 993 Turbo cost $120,000ish, plus a gas guzzler tax of a few more thousand, plus another $10,000 to grease the wheels at the dealership to get in line for the very limited production. Car & Driver got a sub 4 sec 0-60 out of it's 407 HP and 3,300 pounds.
So, we fast forward 17 years, and Porsche gives us a new benchmark, adds another 113 HP, makes it a little faster, and all this new technology, performance, and styling only cost another $15-20,000 ........seems pretty equitable. |
Adjust your 1997 $120,000 for inflation and you will of course find that the 991T is much, much cheaper in real terms.

Now can a 991 Turbo retain that much value in +12 years? Probably not likely, since the 996 (not even close!) and the 997 have not been able to. |
Doubtful I agree. They'll build and sell too many to protect the residuals.

Look what GM is testing against. Small fry!
