soft top sensor

the plastic window on my soft top has gone bad, so i tore it out the other day.

since then, the soft top sensor won't turn off. all the way up and latched or all the way down, the light stays on.

is this because the window is missing?

can i expect the light will go off when i replace the top?

missing window is not the issue.

Seems obvious but did you hold the switch all the way down when closing (or opening) until light turns off? Start there and cycle thru it.

it already was up with the light off. then after i took out the window, the light was on without me touching anything else.

then i put the top all the way down. light still on.

then i put it all the way up again. light still on.

Even thought the top is all the way in the up or down position you need to keep the button depressed for 3-4 additional seconds until the light goes out

yup, i know. it was working fine, but now it's not. it was coincident with the window getting taken out, but maybe that was a fluke.
