Porsche Boxster Commercials
I thought this Official Porsche Boxster commercial really hit the demographics of the Boxster owner. A nostalgia for simple roadsters, the way they used to be. Do you agree? Does it speak to you?

I also liked this one, because it's my car (red 987.2) at the 3:40 mark. Otherwise, it takes a while to get to the point.

The classic Boxster commercial...
I've always felt this was the best Boxster commercial:

The Boxster Love Story ad is cheesy as hell.
The 550 / James Dean ad is the best one, seen it before a few times. |

Funny thing, I've never seen a Porsche commercial on tv. When I mentioned this fact to my dealer, he smiled and said "we don't need to advertise. They sell themselves"

this is my favorite boxster commercial
Porsche - Awaken - YouTube It's called Porsche - Awaken, about a guy that wakes up after coma and takes his classic spyder for a spin and sees a new boxster and falls in love with it |

The "Awaken" commercial has always been my favorite Boxster commercial. Porsche sure knows how to reach us, my favorite years older:

@BYprodriver; :) Thanks, glad you liked it! :) If you search youtube for "Porsche 911 commercial" and "Porsche Cayman commercial", you'll see how amazingly well Porsche reaches each of their markets, very defined targeting. It's kind of scary, actually.
@coresellet; more Patrick Stewart! I have a thing for that guy . . . :p @M31; I hadn't see that one, that was hilarious!:D |
Amish centerfold is hilarious. Too funny!
|
Yes...Amish centerfold is my favourite!

|
I think the Amish centerfold is funny too. It made me think of a time I was passing by Wal Mart and saw a horse and buggy tied to a light post. The real devil doesn't have four wheels, it has enough fluorescent lights to make you think, when you walk inside at night, that it is day time. I wonder what the Amish woman would think if she knew her husband was shopping at Wal Mart while her son was looking at centerfolds?

This video is AWESOME! It hits the nail on the head. The Boxster (any other 2 seat convertable for that matter) is like a time machine, memory maker, stress reliever..........Roadsters are all very special in their own way (I have owned a few over the years).
I really liked how Porsche put many makes and models of roadsters in the commercial (very classy). It showed the common thread that binds them all together. Thanks for posting that commercial, I really enjoyed it! Quote:

That's what I like about the Boxster; to me it's the zippy red roadster that will always be cool and fun. |
One thing I have noticed about (most) roadster owners (regardless of make) is that they have a true love for cars. They have a real understanding of driving a "sports" car beyond just horsepower. They understand the relationship between driver, machine and a true feel for the road.
My Wife drives a Dodge Charger SRT8 and it is a BEAST (also fun to drive) but when I want a true driving experience it will be the Porsche that comes out of the garage. |
Porschechick, I too love the Patrick Stewart 'Love Story' video that was released on the introduction of the 986 Boxster. Yes, it speaks to the joys of driving an open-air sports car - but it also speaks to the design's roots in the famous Porsche Spyders and Speedsters of the 1950's. As I pointed out in the 'Thinking of Buying a Boxster' thread (Have the prices for 986 Boxsters bottomed out?), it is of note that Porsche did not produce a similar video for the introduction of either the 987, or 981 Boxsters. I suspect that this is because, while both designs are more modern in appearance, neither has the same historical cues and neither instills the same feelings of nostalgia.
Does the video now seem 'corny' to some? No doubt. However, those of us who are old enough to remember the introduction of Boxster in 1996 (let alone old enough to remember the Porsche Spyders and Speedsters) will remember how it tugged at the heart-strings. Brad |
I'll have to be the dissenting voice...
I don't like those commercials. They seem like all the others where they end with the voice over person saying the name of the car in some overly dramatic way. If I had my my own car company the commercials would have no one payed millions of dollars to talk. In fact there would be no talking at all. I would play one soundtrack: The sound of the engine wailing. And the only images would be from carefully placed cameras on a race track like Spa, Sebring or Monaco. Then at the end I would have six of the cars lined up in the most popular color/wheel combinations. And I'd keep Patrick Stewart's check for myself.. |
There are a few versions of 'Love Story' - if I recall one of them is almost 10 minutes long. Would love to see the original in HD or at least higher quality.
My latest favorite is 'Anticipation' - it's for the 981 but has plenty of other history. And it looks and sounds great in HD. Porsche Boxster - Anticipation This commercial was partly responsible for the purchase of a SmartTOP for my 986. -T |
It may not be a commercial, but it's by far the funniest clip involving a Porsche.

Flat-out
I agree that Le Mans is one big Porsche valentine. As a sixteen-year-old, the movie made a tremendous impression on me:
"Michael, I want you to drive flat-out. I want Porsche to win Le Mans." I'll never forget those lines. I dreamt of owning a Porsche, and 39 years later, I realized my dream. |

I also love the old Spyders, and if the new one had a reasonable top (it snaps on and off, which seems tedious to me) I would wait for a used one to come up. The fairings are just gorgeous! But I guess you wouldn't be able to have fairings with a regular automatic top. Life is full of stinkin' tradeoffs. . . :( |
You guys are posting a lot of good videos, very cool!
