aftermarket exhaust

Looking to change exhaust on my 2002 986 with only 30k miles but not looking for the fabspeed street racer sound. Although I would like a meatier sound. any help?

I recently verified my theory that to have a louder exhaust with no resonance drone you have to stay with the oem muffler design & therefore the oem manufacturer Dansk. The Dansk Sport muffler looks identical to the original except it is highly polished & all the interior sound muffling packing is omited. It also has some pipes eliminated internally for a more straight through flow. It weighs about 40% less than the oem. It is exactly what I wanted.

This. No Drone and first rate people to deal with.

I was also looking to avoid and drone and I bought the Brombacher 'sound version' muffler from FVD. It is like the Dansk in that it keeps the OEM outer design, but lets more of that flat 6 sound get through. I also recently added cat bypass pipes. Great sound with absolutely no drone, and nearly as quiet on the highway until you put your foot down.
I was always interested in the fister/pedro type bypass also, and I think it is 'no drone' since it keeps the OEM muffler.
There are a lot of exhaust options and price ranges, so good luck on your search.

I am no expert on whether or not Brombacher and Dansk are related, but I remember seeing both options sold by different companies when I was looking a few years ago and I think they were comparable. FVD sells a standard version and the 'sound version' that I bought (both louder than OEM) of the Brombacher muffler. Link below has no mention of Dansk.
Price has gone up in the past few years, but Rhonda may offer a discount for forum members (no affiliation).

40% less? Very nice. Can you give us a sound bite?

I have an FDM and cat delete ...blacked out

The sound can be quite aggressive moving to wot

Essentially the muffler is bypassed when you are on it.
