Great News - Porsche officially drops prices...

Yes its true - Porsche Australia has just dropped its pricing across the whole range by up to $A36,300 ($US37,750).
So anyone planning to move to Australia, don't expect to grab a bargain. A new Boxster will hit you $US106,000 and a Carrera $US215,000........

And thats just the start - wait till you see the spare parts pricing....

Its a bit sad, because I have just come to realize that I will not be able to buy a new Porsche in my lifetime - even with the price reductions.
Looks like my old 2001 Boxster S is still going to be living in my garage for the foreseeable future!!

Porsches are a steal here by comparison!

That's a crazy disparity in cost. Driving one of those cars means possessing a completely different level of wealth than it does here.

I went searching and here's a pretty good article talking about the disparity in prices.
http://news.drive.com.au/drive/motor-feature/a-quick-buck-the-high-price-of-luxury-downunder-20110415-1dgy7.html

To sum it up, why sell the cars for so much more..."...because we can".

And don't believe that the above exorbitant pricing stops there - every state government adds on their tax on registration called "on road costs" which add many thousand to the above pricing regime...
That's why a Porsche owner is looked upon as a rich bastard - even if the car is a 1997 986 Boxster, which by the way, are going for ~ $US20,000 with 100,000 miles on the clock.

After saying that, anyone going to live in Singapore can expect tp pay ~ $1,000,000 for a decent spec Porsche - makes Australia look positivly cheap......

Yes Steve,
And to make matters worse we have to go though the most complicated and unnecessary procedures to import a USED porsche. And what about the "luxury car tax",
the Federal government makes more out of a new Porsche sale than Porsche Aust.
