Used Boxster Pricing Guide
For some reason, I tossed my September Excellence magazine on a pile of stuff next to my bedside table and didn't see this before. For those of you wondering what your boxster is worth, based on what Excellence found buyers paying (as opposed to valuation guides such as kelly blue book, etc.), here you go:

The article went on to give lots of facts and figures about our cars that was interesting to me considering I didn't know what enhancements had been made to our model Porsche since it was brought out in 1997. BTW, my 1997 was sold retail for $39,995 base price. |
Is there a typo there? Why would the newer, more powerful 2000 have considerably lower high & low values than a 99 or 98?

I can't see how they support the poor economy statement. However, there have been a TON of Boxsters coming off lease lately, so supply is way up.

Jeph, it might be a typo in Excellence, because I just rechecked my numbers against the article and they're correct. I believe what you're saying has validity and the 2000 numbers are probably in the ballpark somewhere aligned with all the others before and after it.

hey can you post that info for the Carreras?
my brain is ticking over whether to wait for an 05 Cayman in couple of years or not wait so long and get a 996 CarreraS. Hopefully by then I will have the space for two cars. Although there is the issue of having two cars with only two seats....hmm. |

Thanks Bruce, I will keep you in mind. Those Carreras are becoming better and better bargains by the month. In the near future 996S might well be the best sportscar bargain around. But I'm wondering if like with other 911's there might be slow upturn in values for 996's. Those 997's look err funny. No doubt Porsche will only churn out better cars from a mechanical/performance point of view. Seems to me that other more aesthetic factors will start to come into play. Like the absurd asking prices for slant nose 911's when there are better options from a performance point of view.
Tqtran, I agree with staying away from the first model year. BUT waiting for two year old 2007? THAT"S A LONG WAIT! I might have to look at the CaymanS a very down the road purchase. Guess I'll be holding onto my GT3 seats longer than I imagined. Because they are going right in that 996S! |
