New Convertible Top Stuck Closed - HELP!!!!

Hey All,

I need some help. Had a new convertible top installed and the installer said everything went well. When I went to pick up the car, the top won't open now. He said that after he latched the lever to close it, it was tight. Then after releasing the latch, it would not open anymore.

Not an electrical issue. When you press the open button all electrical works fine. You can hear a click. Seems to be stuck. So I was able to remove the drive cables from the convertible motor and attempted to open the clam shell with the power drill used to turn the cables, one at a time.

The cables turn but the convertible transmissions don't move. Seems they are jammed. I'm guess that when the installed forced the top closed, something got jammed.

Now I am stuck and not sure what to do in order to open the clam shell. Any advise? I have the car for the weekend and will bring it back to him next week. But he is not equipped to fix the issue at hand. Very frustrating!

You've got to try to pop the rod ends off on either side to free the top from the transmissions.

They can be hard to get to with the top up but it can be done.

Thanks. I figured that out and now have the top freed up. But I have a new problem.

I reinstalled the cables in the convertible motor, and when I attempt to open or close the top, the motor turns the cables, but the transmission don't turn.

By hand, I can move each the transmissions freely about 180 degrees.

Any suggestions?
