Would like opinion on 2003 "S" I am Looking to Buy

I have been looking for a while and have come across a 2003 S will the following:

2003
35K miles
in service date May 2003
Gray with Gray leather interior which I like - both in near excellent/near perfect condition

Options list is short
18 inch wheels
PSM
HiFi
CD storage in dash
Wind Blocker

they are asking $32.5K

Are there any options (like power seats, etc) that I am going to realy miss?

Also what is your opinion of the deal?

thanks for helping a newbie out

wembely, I don't think you will miss the power seats at all. You might miss having heated seats.

fortuately I live in Florida - so heated seats are not anything I care about.

Any other options that are must ahves that this one is missing? any opinion on the deal?

price

FYI: I just passed on an '03 S sold by a Boston dealer. It sold for $34.9K plus another $2K for pre-cert. It had 33K miles. So the price you are being quoted sounds good.

that's the first year they offered the Box with a glass rear window. And they made some enhancements to the front and rear bumpers. There was also a tiny HP increase of 8 ponies.
Ask to see if all the 30K maintenance was performed.
Does it have HID headlights or he less expensive Halogens?

Last month bought 2002 S with 30,000 bose system, 6 CD changer, and heated seats, 18 turbo twist wheels, for $29,000. Otherwise basically stock. In real good shape inside and out.

Car was off lease from new jersey. When it got here found out it had new clutch etc.

Infor for comparison.

As another point of reference, 4 months ago I paid $38k for a 2003 S with 8600 miles, Bose (which includes wind Block), PSM, Heated Seats, Aluminum package and painted console. The car had an in-service date of Nov. 11th, 2003 so there is still 23 months of factory warranty left. I figured the low mileage and longer available warranty was worth about $3000 as I saw many 20K+ cars with similar options (most without PSM) trading around the $35K mark.

$32K for an '03 with 35K miles and 17 months of warranty (assuming you don't go over 50K miles) seems like a pretty fair price. Since it's an Orlando car call Porsche of North Orlando and ask them to run the car's service history. That will give you a lot more insight into what issues the previous owner complained about.

Good Point! Also, bear in mind that FL is one of the easiest States to Wash a Title in. I have a Buddy who buys wrecked (Salvaged), but repairable Ferraris and Lambo's. He has the cars put together correctly and Titles them in FL to lose the Salvage Title from another State. Also knew a guy (actually only met him several times) who brought Gen 1 Lotus Elises into the Country from Germany ('96, '97 models - non-EPA certified) and got FL Titles on them as Lotus Elans. He imported and sold 15 of them before EPA, NTSB, and Customs caught on. Unfortunately, he had returned overseas and the owners of the non-cert Elises had their Cars impounded and were left hanging.

Not to say that this has happened in your instance, but, I am always leery of Cars coming from FL - DO YOUR HOMEWORK and get a PPI!!!

Happy Motoring!... Jim'99
