Power steering woes

Ok so today driving to work, for about 30 seconds, my power steering pump screamed at me. Checked it, and it was low. Topped it off with pentosin (glad I work for a BMW store, some of them use it too) and checked, no visible leaks.

Posted on Rennlist, Macster is under the impression that the pressure hose has an internal high pressure release valve that failed and is blowing it past the seals into the accordion boots on the rack, and that I need new lines, rack, and pump, and the system has **************** the bed.

Talked to a Porsche tech, tells me to check the boots, if they're bad, replace the rack and call it good. Only replace the pump if needed.

The car has only 48K on it and it's an 02 S.

If when I check the boots are full, can I get away with just the rack? If they're not full, where else would it go? Thanks!

Side note: pentosin bottles are evil and it tastes really, really bad
