Transmission Problem.
My 1998 Porsche Boxster 986 has lost a tooth on 2nd gear does anyone know the name of the part I'm going to have to replace?
Thanks. |
Hi More,
What are your symptoms? Are you sure you lost a tooth, and how do you know it is not a another problem? |
The symptoms only happen in 2nd gear.
It's a loud clicking sound and it gets louder the faster you go. |
More, have you checked underneath the car for anything out of the ordinary, such as transmission shift cables coming loose from the brackets?
|
I can't see any loose cables.
I took it to a mechanic today he said it could be the 1st/2nd gear Drive Shaft. Price of a Drive Shaft - $1500 Price of a new Porsche Dog Teeth 2nd Gear - $140 BIG Bloody Difference! |
